UPDATE: this version (new GUI) will be applied to the CinemaTube, as well as the CinemaGo.
Hello brite-Viewers,
We hear your concerns when you question whether the support will still be the same for you, CinemaTube owners, since that we changed the company name, and have just launched a new product, the CinemaGo.
While we can not and will not give you empty promises, we can show you, however, what the team has been working on. And a picture paints a thousand words, doesn’t it? Not to mention we have 3.
Now you can see why it’s taking a bit longer to debug, because we’re working on adding something new at the same time, too. Please stay tuned – you will not be disappointed.
And in case we don’t post anything new before then, happy July 4th weekend everyone!

Heeey..
That’s Great!
Show us some more screens of the “new CinemaGo” which we don’t own nor care for…
Must disgruntled buyers like myself own a Cinematube and have been blatantly ignored for over half a year now.
Seeing some “cheeky” screen shots of a firmware that probably won’t be out for months and months just won’t cut it for me.
Sadly I now have little to no faith that you will deliver solid support to your Cinematube customers in the future.
As the ever so wise saying goes, this is “too little, too late”.
@Disgruntled, awww, sorry that you misunderstood. I specifically posted these for the CinemaTube owners (see I put them before the CinemaGo owners)? Cheer up and have a great weekend.
Wow.
Is mocking your customers the best response you can give, brite-view?
In fact, it’s that sort of attitude and comments that precisely has gotten you in the position you are right now with unsatisfied clients.
You need to start being a bit more humble and take buyers and their concerns seriously because once they’re gone, so are you.
Business today does not seems to really understand the meaning of customer service (after the sale). When a batch of current customers ask for stable updates on firmware releases and/or upcoming releases – treat them with respect and answer their questions. We are sure that you have Beta firmware development going on for the CinemaTube – prove it – show some status reports so current users and potential new users can see that you are serious about Customer Support.
It’s the right thing to do.
I read the forums and comments sections and people are complaining and whining and being disrespectful jerks. I see that briteview has maintained great restraint towards all you aholes. You guys don’t like cinematube then go back to western dig – i used to have western dig and they suck. Other than a few bugs, i’m completely happy with cinematube as it does pretty much all that i’m looking for in a media player. And if you guys thought the support sucked, then you should see the support western dig gives for their media players – it’s a lot worse and they’re a much larger company. I give props to briteview and cinematube, and seeing that they’re still working on more than minor issues is like icing on the cake. Are there better products out there? Yea, but you’ll have to spend more. For the money, cinematube is better than most media players. If cinematube is so bad, go to the competitors and whine and be a jerk on their forums and websites instead. Happy 4th of july weekend
as an early adopter of cinematube, i can say that cinemago is gonna rock. i cannot believe that people can post hateful comments like some of them above without knowing what they are talking about. if you are a disgruntled user, show your specific reason, and IMHO, brite-view is there to solve (or at least try to solve) the issues as they always try to do. email them, post your problems in the forum. remember, BV offers FW update and that is frequent.
@bigxexay
From what I can read, the only disrespect on this thread is coming from you calling people “jerks” and “aholes”. No one here is complaining about the CT not working, they are requesting and demanding better post-sale support. I can clearly see that you are trying to defend Brite-View, but they know a lot about marketing and I doubt they would approve on your advice to send customers to “go buy from the competitors” if they don’t like the support that they get here. Any paying customer should be entitled to request better support from any company if they feel they did not get what they paid for.
@mukhi
If you go and read the forums, I’m sure you’ll get an idea of the specific reasons why people are not pleased with support. The cinemago might “rock” as you say, but if people have already spent their money on the CT and are not happy, I really doubt any will go out and buy the new one. And yes, I agree with you about the hateful comment above yours. It’s totally out of place.
@Brite-view
I hope your legal/company issues are over soon so you can return to fully support your clients. However in order to keep their trust, you should have more official updates like this one telling us how things are going even if you don’t go into specific details. That way at least people will know that something is being done and they have not been left in the dust.
My 2 cents…
Thank you for all your suggestions, comments and support – we have received and appreciate them all. Not looking for excuses here since it has been a while since the last firmware update to address issues, but we do try our best to update everyone about what is in the works.
We are happy to let you know that, a new version of firmware will be released this week to address/improve the following issues:
1. Resolved photo thumbnail display issue via UPnP.
2. Resolved rebooting issue caused by “File Copy”
3. Enhanced HFS+ compatibility
And by the end of September 2010, another version of firmware should be released, which will contain the new user interface (will be available for both the CinemaTube and CinemaGo) shown in these screen shots, and more bug fixes (details to come).
We’re still ironing the kinks out of the CinemaTube. I have said this before and please allow me to reassure you: CinemaTube customers are our “foundation” and we will NOT leave you in the dark. In fact, I hope this reply has shed some light to the subject.
Thanks again everyone.
@ 2 cents – i’m calling them jerks and aholes cause they are being disrespectful. why should i be respectful to people who aren’t?
i have no problem telling people to go to competitors because i know they’ll be disappointed. i used to be with western dig. i gave them some chances and they didn’t deliver and now i went to their competitor in cinematube and am happy. i feel that people aren’t giving cinematube more of a chance as they have shown that they are still supporting cinematube even if they don’t reveal all their cards.
i’ve read the forums and am aware of people’s complaints. i just feel people are being disrespectful and are too demanding and inpatient. like i said, they should go to a competitor cause they’ll be disappointed.
New firmware release in a week / another planned for late summer / great news. Thank you.
I like the look of the new Interface, but will the codec issues be addressed? A new interface witht he same old problems does not solve much.
Hey Mike, could you tell me more details about the codec issue? Is there a video format that is supposed to be supported but does not play? Thanks.
Will the current chip in the CinemaTube be able to play BD ISO files without stuttering? With the current firmware? With the planned releaes of new firmware upgrades? Or is the chip just not capable of playing back BD ISO files at all?
@chilo45: have you tried some BD files and the CT stuttered (please provide video information so we can diagnose the problem? The BD ISO is supported (without menu, but you can skip from chapter to chapter) and if the CT chokes on the file or not all depends on the bitrate of the video, which is related to the chip’s computing power. Please find the “specifications tab” on this page http://www.brite-view.com/cinematube.php for maximum bitrate supported. Thanks!
Excited about the new GUI and other new capabilities. In my opinion best product for the money. Your product is functional and so far I have gotten my moneys worth. Right now I am on vacation. We take the Cinematube with us and forgo the dvd’s, very convenient.
Thanks, going home to update with the new firmware!
Thanks
I don’t really like the new UI on the CinemaTube. I had hoped there would be new options in the new release, but see the Choose Video/Music/Photos 1st and then select file approach is going to be continued in the new UI in Sept.
May be I’m just an odd duck, but I like to navigate to the folder and then choose which ever media I’d like to see – no objections to a filter option, but now when I want to listen to music, I have to go all the way up to the root and start from scratch.
What does everyone else think?
@DevM: thank you for you input and the “All Media” section as you suggested has been mentioned by other customers as well. We have passed the information to our RD team. Please do not hesitate to share more of your insight with us.
Few suggestions:
1. I would like to second what DevM has put across. If the CT on selection can play audio/video/photo automagically instead of the user doing all the extra navigation, that would be a boon. If folks prefer the current method, then we could have an option to either do the way it is currently done or choose the “All media” mode.
2. Can we have the “go to” feature extended to streaming media too rather than only restricted to CT connected USB drives?
3. The torrent clients needs to be more robust and informative. For e.g. right now, I know my download speed, but am I uploading anything? If so, at what speed? Many torrent sites maintain ratios and this information is essential to know when to seed and for how long.
Thanks,
cyberkraze
@cyberkraze: thank you for your suggestions as well.
1. All media: I think this will show up again under the new firmware (with the new user interface) but I’ll double check.
2. GoTo for streaming media: could you be more specific? Is it from your PC media or are you streaming via UPnP?
3. Torrent client: it is a very basic torrent client, and therefore, CinemaTube will download but not upload/seed.
I hope this helps – thanks for stopping by!
2. I have tried both and it didn’t work on either (at least not reliably enough). I shared folders on my PC and could not jump to a desired time in the file and I used TVersity and it didnt work either.
3. Can you improve on the torrent client? The torrent client (at least for me) without seeding capabilities is as good as not having one.
@cyberkraze it should work on “PC media” but unfortunately not on the UPnP. It’s a little complicated to explain but it’s basically because the digital media is handled differently when streaming through PC media and through UPnP.
Torrent download: we apologize for the client to remain basic, but it is also because the machine would not be able to handle a full-fledged client (it will seriously slow down the system performance and cause the system to reboot).
Hi! I’m excited about the new firmware coming on september, and I want to know if in this new firmware we’ll be able to view an image (like a DVD front cover) for each video in the movie section. Another Media Center products (like Western Digital) have this and I really think this is a very good feature.
Thanks,
Max
Dear Max, thank you for stopping by. We are working on the movie cover art, and if it is confirmed we’ll notify the community asap. Thanks again!
