Hello brite-Viewers,
TGIF! You might have noticed that there is a new firmware (IPB10106251) available for the CinemaTube today. Again, you can choose to perform an online update (which I think is the easiest) or the “USB update” (more “advanced”
). I’ll explain in detail about how to do both, later in this post.
Before I do that, though, please note that if you are a proud new owner of the CinemaTube, you will see that when you receive the box, it still has the IPB1009C021 firmware on it. We suggest that you update the firmware to IPB10106251 as the latest firmware addresses many known bugs within the C021.
IPB10106251 Release Note:
- Resolved photo thumbnail display issue via UPnP
- Resolved rebooting issue caused by “File Copy”
- Enhanced HFS+ compatibility
IMPORTANT:
- If you choose to perform an online update:
Your CinemaTube will go from IPB1009C021 –> IPB10101111 –> IPB10106251. Yes, you’ll go through 2 (TWO)
updates and it is normal.
- If you choose to perform a USB update:
You can take the shortcut and go directly from IPB1009C021 to IPB10106251; no problem.
Ok! Are you ready for a step-by-step guide to firmware update?
P.S. We’ll make this document available on our support page soon, and we can also email you the document if you send a request to service@brite-view.com. Enjoy your CinemaTube!

Uh I dunno WTF you got your f/w upgrade from July 8th 2010, maybe from another site, but sure not as hell on the Brite-view support page. The UI upgrade reports a damaged file [4x trying] and the 2 downloaded files are the same f/w I’ve already got installed, so cut the shit on this IPB10106251 it doesn’t exist!
I just received my CinemaGo in the mail and first thing I tried to do was update to the latest firmware… of course the ISO file couldn’t be recognized through online update or USB update. Great way to debut a new product!
@ozone, sorry about the inconvenience. Any luck getting the CT to update? Please see the discussion in the forum here: http://www.brite-viewforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=20&t=631
@Rhyno, sorry about the inconvenience. The online update for the CinemaGo should be released soon, so right now the best bet is via USB update. Please make sure the names of the files are correct (install.img and install.img-sig) and are saved under the root menu. Please see the firmware discussion here: http://www.brite-viewforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=20&t=641&p=3198&hilit=install.img#p3198
(it’s for CT but CG users would follow the same principles)
I don’t know why you guys made something as straight-forward as a firmware update such a science project. Winrar, txt, tar, resave with different file extension, etc. Why don’t other companies have to worry about such crap? I already had one bricked cinematube replaced.
So I just got my Cinematube today, using a 2TB WD elements HDD, everytime i try to download torrents, I leave the room, come back 20 minutes later and the HDD is unmounted, the screen is black and the torrents list is empty. What is up with this? Shouldn’t I turn off my TV? Please Help!
@Yopak may I ask how the WD drive is formatted? Is it NTFS or EXT-3 (these are the only two formats that can be used for the torrent download feature). Also, you may want to check our forum to see if any of the discussion helps:

Thanks!
Followed the instructions for the USB update. Tried both the 1st and bootstrap method. Both didn’t work. For the first method, it gave me a message that said the image file cannot be read. For the second method, the screen depicted came up, I plugged in the flash drive, but nothing happened. I made sure the install files were in the root directory and the install img-sig file was saved as a .txt file, but it didn’t work. Please help!
